Recent oil prices has certainly shown how tightly weaned it is to our countries economic sustainability. Seems as a province/country its cost to our economy/environment is ten-fold. All simply due to a price decline in a barrel of oil. How has this become the case, more, why?
One thing we do know oil has revolved on a Boom and Doom cycle for decades. History also shows with such a decline in oil price cycles, employment and real estate prices follow in its decline. Then is when we see many, many Canadian families suffer needlessly.
We also know global mining production, including fossil fuels, has almost doubled since 1984, from just over nine-billion tonnes to almost 17-billion in 2012. I believe it was my granny who always told me never to put all of one s eggs into one basket, when investing in ones future. However we have only begun to see this is not the case from our political leaders decision making, as they claim losses in the global oil sector today will reflect our community/province/countries ` bottom line pretty much immediately.
If this is the situation we find ourselves in, it certainly opens the discussion which could very well offer an opportunity for weaning ourself off of petroleum and the petrol dollar, and potentially aim ourselves as a community/province/country/global towards a more consistent alternative energy. Possibly Free Energy?

If a lack of reasoning suggests this should not be the case, we might look towards many, many scientific studies suggesting Climate Change is very much on our heels, not only as a country, but more so as a planet. And to take it a step further, our solar system.
Certainly presents a solid case. Scientists agree within the next five years, as a species, we will see weather/climate on our planet to be drastically different, which leaves our children and their children, potentially the endangered species.
Countries like China are spending millions/billions on alternative energy, which in and of itself has shown employment in this sector up in the tens- of- thousands. Not to mention they too are weaning themselves off the petrol dollar which we now see them buying and selling their petrol not using the american green back, but a new currency, the Bric. Even Canada s relationship with China has recently changed in its currency swap for import/export. Other countries like Sweden, Germany are showing their leadership in dominating the alternative energy sector, up by 85%.
If our leaders do not lead, who will?
One option on the table through the Fraser Institute comes from Eastern Canada whom are considering as a result of declined oil prices and its economic cost to the coffers is in reducing its government employees by 10%. The numbers crunched in savings to the tax payer are in the billions, Many billions when considering benefits and pensions.
